Mesa Lumineers
Lumineers are a brand of porcelain veneer that have been getting a lot of attention in “extreme makeover” type shows. The material Lumineers are made out of is extremely strong, so they can be made thinner than many other brands of porcelain veneers.
Extra thin veneers require only minimal preparation of the tooth surface, and sometimes Lumineers can be placed without any removal of the tooth structure at all. Standard porcelain veneers are 0.5 millimeters thick, while Lumineers are 0.3 millimeters thick. Minimal preparation means that the process for you, the patient, is very simple. We make an impression of your teeth, order the results from the Den-Mat lab, then about two weeks later your new smile can be bonded into place.
Can anyone place Lumineers in Mesa?
The answer to this is a resounding “no”. Though some advertising may imply otherwise, Lumineers can be quite challenging to work with.
Though Lumineers are perceived by some as “easy to place”, that is not the case. Getting really beautiful results from Lumineers requires a great deal of skill and careful planning. No-prep veneers can leave your smile looking bulky and fake if they are not placed by a dentist with great technical and artistic skill.
Drs. Stapley and Kitchen will talk to you about whether or not a no-prep veneer will work for you, or if traditional porcelain veneers would be a better choice.
